Do you shy away from problems? Do you get frustrated when you face an issue? If yes, here is something from my personal experience, that may change your perception about problems. Let’s dig in!

No matter what our profession and lifestyle are, problem-solving is part of our everyday life. Some of those problems are challenging and tough and their solution may require a lot more thought, critical evaluation and effort, while others are very simple and straightforward that we can solve easily and almost effortlessly. But regardless of how big or complex a problem is, we always need to find a viable solution. To me, every problem is a gift given by nature. I understand, we go throw tough times when are facing a problem and calling it a “gift” is an overstatement, but every problem is a growing opportunity; that helps us gather our thoughts, imaginations, and positive energy to one single point. If you consider problems as growing opportunities you will explore sudden new mental dimensions towards creativity. Do not trust me? Here’s a quote from the CEO of Selling Power — a multi-channel media company.

“Problems are nothing but wake-up calls for creativity” — Gerhard Gschwandtner

By now we should be agreed on calling the problem a growing opportunity. If not, I’m sure you will agree at the end of this article.

I discovered the utmost power of this new mindset recently when I met local cricketers in Landhi, Karachi, and asked them about the hurdles they are facing in pursuing their career as cricketers. Every day, I visit our community cricket ground, see these passionate young guys playing cricket with their full dedication, but I’ve never noticed before what they were considering a problem in pursuance of their passion.

Local cricketers with a passion for playing cricket at the national and international scale

Besides these kids, teams from other areas of Karachi gather every weekend at different community grounds and local academies and play T-20 matches. Most of them work hard in their studies and jobs to provide their families the best they could and at the same time, they devote time to their passion. But when they choose to progress in their career as cricketers, they always start from the beginning; their previous accomplishments do not manifest unless they qualify to play at the domestic level. I decided to take this problem and turn it into a business opportunity. With this in mind I interviewed some of them, put myself into their shoes, and came up with this problem statement and solution;

“Young cricketers at Karachi are passionate about playing at national and international level but they are not provided with oppertunity to track their achievements. They always start from beginning when progress in their career and are unable to manifest their accomplishments they have achieved in past. We would help them build their individual and team profiles and track their performance through our digital portal throughout their journey and showcase their profiles to orgainizations and potential recruiters.”

The approach I took in identifying the problem, communicating with the cricketers, considering their hard work and passion, putting myself in their shoes and looking from their angle, coming up with my solution, and collecting feedback had a significant impact on my understanding of other problems I face daily. I had not considered finding solutions to them and plenty of other issues I see around myself. Whatever I have been doing before, whether it was ignoring the problems, liking an easy-going attitude, or complaining and procrastinating rather than taking action, but I accept that I was wrong. In addition to this, I explored that things always go wrong somehow, you may or may not realize it — it’s life and life can not be perfect — but what matter is considering fixing the wrong going; we can fix them, this challenge is an opportunity and this is what we call an adventure. I’m agreed with the great — Captain Jack Sparrow, here is what he say about problems;

The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude about the problem.

Do you agree with me now? Do you think problems are growing opportunities, that invoke our curiosity and call our creativity? Let me know in your response. It does not matter what kind of problem you or people around you are facing. The most important thing is how you solve it. Develop a positive attitude, take action, avail yourself of the opportunities, and keep growing ✨!!!
